FAQs

  • The police at the Westminster railway crossing cannot direct traffic. They're paid by EXO to ensure vehicles respect the barrier closings.

  • Public Security Officers (PSOs) cannot issue tickets for speeding, stop sign, or bike riding on sidewalk infractions, only the SPVM.

  • Once PAC issues a permit with recommendations (that is, not exactly what you wanted to do) it is legally binding and cannot be reversed.

Bylaws usually not enforced

Bylaws on the books in case of abuse

  • Kids playing on streets: hockey, basketball, soccer. Nobody wants to ban this unless there's a real problem.

Bylaws difficult to enforce

  • Bikes on Westminster sidewalks: Can only be enforced by the SPVM police. The ban is well-intended, but is it realistic?
